My Open Letter to January
January, we don’t need you to fix us.
“New year. New you.”
Sorry, says who?
Women do not need rebuilding.
We don’t need a “before”, and many of us aren’t striving for an after.
Movement is continuous. It may not be every day, but it happens in some way, for our entire lives.
The walk that ended early. The squats while the kettle boils. The yoga on the bedroom floor, all the way up to the climb up a mountain, the big game, the marathon.
It all counts. Every day, every month, every year.
We move to feel something. To feel strong. To clear heads. Not will ourselves back to a younger version.
January, we don’t need pressure or promises.

We don’t even need permission.
We will continue to show up imperfectly, to move when we can, to rest when we need to, to keep going.
Never starting over, just continuing. Every movement matters. Not just the sweaty ones. Not just the visible ones. Especially the hard ones.
So this January, screw the “new you”.
Just the same you.
Moving, whenever and wherever you can.
Rain or shine.
Five minutes or fifty.
It still counts.

Happy New Year
